Gurjar Pariwar has added another feather in its cap by launching GICCI, a first of its kind initiative for Gurjar Youth! GICCI acts as a facilitator for existing and budding entrepreneurs by providing them a platform for Networking, Funding, Knowledge Sharing, Mentoring & Skill Building to enhance their prospects for success in their ventures. It also engages with government and other industry bodies at policy level.
In 2016, a Gurjar Entrepreneurs Meet was organized in Constitution Club of India to bring together successful and aspiring entrepreneurs. It’s detailed account can be found at
Many renowned Gurjar Businessmen and successful entrepreneurs attended the meet. There were panel discussions on different aspects of entrepreneurship, the challenges and pain points of entrepreneurs were discussed and noted. Prominent personalities like Dr Jadeep Chhokkar (Retired Professor, IIM Ahmedabad and heading Association for Democratic Reforms – ADR), Dr Dharminder Nagar (Managing Director – Paras Healthcare Pvt Ltd), Mr Narendra Kumar (Executive Director – GAIL), Mr Rajpal Singh Baisoya (Director – FICCI), Mrs Sunita Bainsla (Principal Chief Commissioner – Income Tax), Mrs Nandini Singh (Entrepreneur), Mr Azad Bhadana (Managing Director – Citizen Co-operative Bank), Mr Meghraj Bainsla (MD – Meghlok Associates Pvt Ltd) and many more business achievers had addressed the august audience.
It was felt that there are many entry barriers for taking up entrepreneurship as a viable career option like a) lack of awareness of policies, schemes and support provided by government, b) lack of skills important for entrepreneurs, c) lack of guidance and mentorship, d) lack of funding and other resources and e) lack of acceptability of entrepreneurship as a career option in society. Parents do not want their daughters and sons to take up entrepreneurship. While looking for a groom for their daughter, parents, usually, prefer someone with a good job or good rental income instead of a budding entrepreneur. Girls are also not allowed to do business.
Considering all the above factors, Gurjar Pariwar shared an idea of having an organisation like FICCI which actively works towards promoting and fostering entrepreneurship. A task force was setup in this regard which took inputs from businessmen, entrepreneurs and experts from different domains. After extensive study and surveys, the task force recommended a solution in the form of an organzation which was registered with the name, “Gurjar International Chambers of Commerce and Industries (GICCI)” in 2017.
GICCI (pronounced as jikki) was formed with the following vision:
“Be a positive social change agent in the Gurjar Community by empowering Gurjar Youth from Rural and Urban areas to realize their dreams through entrepreneurship leading to job creation, wealth building and growth of nation’s economy.”
GICCI’s mission includes:
– Knowledge Sharing
– Skill Building
– Funding & Investment
In its brief existence, GICCI has a few success stories already. GICCI has contributed to the formation of at least three startups in a short span of time. They are: Shuddh Swadeshi by Mr Satendra Nagar, Brand Bak Bak by Mr Narendra Kasana and YOGA (Your Own Green Area) by Mr Sachin Panwar. GICCI has also helped in crowdfunding of FairAir which is another venture of Mr Sachin Panwar.
